The process, step by step
- You send a request.Use the form or call (512) 957-8036. We ask for your name, phone number, ZIP code, the appliance, and a short description of what is happening. Brand, model and age help but are not required.
- We check coverage and match.Your ZIP code and the appliance type decide which independent technicians are suitable. We do not hand your request to a call list; we pass it to a technician who covers your area.
- The technician contacts you. They confirm the details, explain their service-call fee and available times, and agree an appointment. Fees and scheduling are between you and the technician.
- The visit and diagnosis. The technician inspects the appliance, finds the cause and gives you an estimate for the repair. Ask for it in writing, with parts and labor listed separately.
- You decide. You can approve the repair, ask for time to think, or decline. If the numbers favor a new appliance, our repair-or-replace guide can help you decide.
What we do, and what we do not
We do
- Take your request and check your ZIP code.
- Connect you with an independent technician.
- Publish plain-language guidance for each appliance.
- Tell you honestly if a request looks like a plumbing, electrical or warranty matter.
We do not
- Employ technicians or perform repairs.
- Set repair prices or quote repairs.
- Provide the warranty on repair work.
- Claim a technician’s license, insurance or certification as our own.
Money: who charges what
Sending a request to Austin ApplianceFix is free. When a technician visits, they set their own charges: commonly a service-call or diagnostic fee, plus parts and labor if you go ahead. Some technicians apply the diagnostic fee toward the repair, and others do not; ask before you book. We may receive a referral fee from the technician, which does not change what they quote you.
What to have ready
- Model and serial number. Usually on a label inside the door, on the frame, or behind a kick plate. A photo works.
- Brand and approximate age. Helps the technician judge whether repair is sensible.
- What you noticed. Sounds, smells, error codes, leaks, when it started.
- Access details. Gate codes, parking, stairs, pets and who will be home.
- Warranty paperwork, if the appliance is relatively new.
If the technician cannot fix it
Some problems turn out not to be worth repairing, and occasionally a technician has to order a part and return. Ask what happens if the first part does not fix the issue, whether the diagnostic fee is still charged, and what the warranty covers. If you are unhappy with any part of a visit, tell us at our contact page; we cannot change a technician’s invoice, but we do want to know how referrals went.

Questions people ask
How long until a technician contacts me?
It depends on the time of day and the technician’s workload. We cannot promise a specific time, so if the matter is urgent, call us.
Do I have to use the technician you refer?
No. You are free to decline, compare other providers or arrange your own repair.
Can I choose the technician?
We match based on ZIP code and appliance. If you have a preference, mention it in your request, though we cannot guarantee it.
What if I need an appliance installed, not repaired?
Mention it in your request. Installation requests are handled case by case, and we will tell you if it is outside what we can refer.
